A Celebration of Equality, Inclusion, and Justice

The Kenya Equality and Inclusion Awards 2024 were held on 20th December 2024 at The Boma Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya. This prestigious event honored outstanding contributions towards advancing gender equality, disability inclusion, and social justice in Kenya.

The event was a recognition of transformative initiatives, policies, and practices that break barriers, challenge stereotypes, and advance the rights of marginalized groups in Kenya.

Event Highlights

The 9th edition of the Kenya Equality and Inclusion Awards began at 7:00 PM with guest registration at The Boma Hotel in Nairobi. The evening opened with the National Anthem, followed by an entertainment performance by Kipawa Kimoja Melodies. Welcome remarks were delivered by Dr. Richard S. Nasong’o, the Executive Director of the Gender and Disability Development Centre. The awards ceremony officially began with speeches from key guests, including Hon. Isaac M. Mwaura, the Government Spokesperson, and the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection, and Senior Citizens Affairs. The main awards presentation started at 7:45 PM, with notable speakers such as Prof. Margaret Jesang Hutchinson, Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi, and Mr. Moses Chege, Country Director of Sightsavers. Afterward, the attendees enjoyed dinner and entertainment, followed by the vote of thanks from Ms. Tina Mungata, the Principal Social Development Officer, MOLSP. The event concluded with closing remarks and a prayer by Prof. Charles Makori Omoke, Head of Disability Services.
